people and their role in our lives
Majority of my life I have been a rather reserved person, and less likely to be open to things outside my comfort zone. I have had a very large shift in my mindset regarding people, and how they shape us, this blog post describes the mindset I have grown over the last few months.
major life events
Over the last 1 year, there have been drastic changes in my life. I graduated, and subsequently got myself a fulltime job. When I started working fulltime, I met a lot of people, I made friends at work, and outside. The more people I meet, the more I realize, every person I ever met, has influenced my life in some way, even if it is for one moment. The more people I know, the more diverse my life becomes.
transient bonds
Everyone you have ever known, is there with you in spirit. Every habit you picked up from someone you once knew, every food you like that someone else first introduced to you, music you listen that you picked up from someone else. Not everyone I met stayed forever, but no matter what I do, I cannot erase the fact that I shared my life with people I have loved at some point of my life. There’s nothing to forget, because they part of who I am today, and its best to accept their contribution to my life. Every single person I have ever shared my life with, has made me what I am today. This realization has drastically changed my perspective on people.
knowing more people
I have always been a fairly introverted person, but I have become increasingly more open to knowing more people, and become more open to new experiences. I started climbing rocks, joining activities outside work and I often find myself initiating conversations. I still feel anxious in social settings, but often find myself enjoying things once I give them a try. Its this realization, that the more people I know, the more diverse of an experience my life becomes.
kindness
The slow realization about people’s contribution to my life, has prompted me to be much more kinder to people, as I understand that even if it’s for a moment, I am influencing their lives, thus I want to make the split second experience a positive one. In my opinion, its always good to make people feel comfortable and warm, because every time you see someone it can be the last time you ever see them, and I think being kind to people all the time makes it easier to not regret your actions later.
here’s to people who were, are, and will be
Its extremely cool that I got to know people in my life. It feels good to realize that you are not alone. Even if we don’t talk, or we don’t become strangers to each other at some point of our lives, we will always be together in spirit, as you have once known me, and I have known you.
